Event Overview
Hyrox Glasgow is expected to take over the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in June 2026. Known for having one of the loudest and most energetic crowds in the global Hyrox circuit, the Glasgow event is a highlight for UK fitness enthusiasts. Hyrox is the 'World Series of Fitness Racing,' combining 8km of running with 8 functional workout stations. The SEC provides a massive, high-ceilinged arena that creates a true 'theatre of fitness' vibe. Whether you are competing in the Pro, Open, or Doubles category, the atmosphere in Glasgow is guaranteed to push you to your absolute limits.
Course Details & Terrain
The layout at the SEC is typically characterized by a fast, flat running track that circles the central workout stations (the 'Roxzone'). The flooring is standard indoor concrete/event carpet, which provides excellent grip for the sled push but can be hard on the joints during the 8km of running.
The 8 stations follow the standard Hyrox format: 1,000m SkiErg, 50m Sled Push, 50m Sled Pull, 80m Burpee Broad Jumps, 1,000m Row, 200m Farmers Carry, 100m Sandbag Lunges, and finally, 75 or 100 Wall Balls. The transition into and out of the Roxzone is where many athletes lose time; the layout in Glasgow often involves sharp turns, meaning agility and 'staying in the flow' are just as important as raw strength.
Who Should Enter? (Beginners vs. Experienced)
Beginners: Hyrox is the ultimate 'inclusive' competitive sport. If you can run and perform basic functional movements, you can finish a Hyrox. The Open category is perfect for those new to the sport, and the Doubles category allows you to split the workload with a friend, making the experience much more social and less daunting.
Experienced/Elite Athletes: For those chasing a World Championship qualification, Glasgow is a 'fast' hall. The air quality in the SEC is generally better than in some older, more cramped venues, which helps with high-intensity breathing. Elites will focus on 'zero-waste' transitions and maintaining a high pace on the 1km runs between stations.
Coach Raye's Race-Day Pro Tips
- The Sled Push Surface: Pay attention to the carpet grain. At the SEC, some lanes can feel slightly 'heavier' than others. Stay low, keep your arms locked, and use short, powerful steps rather than long strides to maintain momentum on the sled push.
- Master the 'Hyrox Turn': You will be doing many laps. Practice your cornering. Hug the inside of the running track and use the turns to check your pace. Don't sprint the straightaways only to lose speed on the bends.
- Wall Ball 'Unbroken' Strategy: The final station is the 100 wall balls. It’s a mental game. Break them into manageable sets (e.g., 4 sets of 25) with a strict 3-breath rest between. This prevents the total red-line that occurs when you try to go unbroken and fail at rep 60.
How to Train for This Event
Training for Hyrox Glasgow requires a hybrid approach: building a 'running engine' that can operate under high levels of fatigue (compromised running). Raye’s WhatsApp coaching delivers a periodized plan that integrates heavy sled simulations, grip strength work, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Raye tracks your 'work-to-run' ratios, ensuring that your body is conditioned to move seamlessly from the rowing machine to the burpees without your heart rate spiraling out of control.
